National Cross Country Championships

22nd February 2025
Callander Park , Falkirk

The National Cross Country Championships at Callendar Park in Falkirk marked the culmination of this season's cross country events, drawing over 2,000 athletes from across Scotland. Despite a smaller contingent this year, the seven athletes from DTFC performed very well, and should all be proud of their efforts having ran longer distances than normal over a hilly and difficult course.

In the U13 girls' race, Rachel Petrie secured 95th place out of 155 participants, which was a great effort on the back of very little endurance training.

The U13 boys' race saw a standout performance from Alfie Whyte, who not only led the huge field to the top of the first big hill, he finished an impressive 11th place out of 116 runners in his first year in this age group.

In the U15 girls' race there were great runs and a huge effort from Lucy Gibb, finishing 26th; Poppy Warner, 41st; and Lily Pritchard, 76th out of 108 competitors.

In the U17 girls' race, Jessica Evans delivered an outstanding performance, finishing an incredible 10th place out of 66 runners in her very first season running competitively.

Munro Strachan represented the club in the U20 men's race, finishing a credible 47th in a very stronger age category over the huge distance of 7.6 km.

Well done everyone on great results and performances.

National Relay Championships

2nd & 9th February 2025
Emirates , Glasgow

The National indoor relays have always been a source of interest to Dunfermline Track & Field Club with a few medallists over the last few years. This year there were fewer teams heading over to the Emirates in Glasgow but all 4 teams felt they were capable of competing  for medals.

The U13 girls team of Alice Thomas ,Millie Gordon, Katy Dyson and Kelseigh Wilson were competing at their first relay championships and put in an excellent performance in their heat to finish 2nd in 2.08 minutes however it wasn’t good enough to be in the top 6 times and a place in the final.

The U15 girls had two teams competing at the meeting . The U15 girls B team of Evanne Carson , Poppy Buchanan, Molly Robinson and Briony Argo produced an excellent time of 1.57 minutes, beating some distinguished competitors, but they just failed to make the final.

The U15 girls A team of Lottie Thomas, Poppy Warner, Pippa Rambaut and Ana Stobie won their heat in 1.51.6 mins and qualify for the final. ran a superb final with Lottie Thomas taking the baton in the final leg to secure  to a silver medal behind Edinburgh AC in a time of 1.50.2mins . This is a new Club record for the U15 4x200m relay team beating the previous record that was set in 2019.

The Senior relays saw Darcie Black , Kirstin Penman , Sophie Thomas and Sarah Kane representing the club in a quest for glory. It was always going to be a tough ask with all the girls being U20 athletes but competing in the Senior category. They did remarkably well to qualify for the final setting while a new Club record time of 1.47.06 minutes however despite a gallant effort the girls were fifth in the final.

An excellent performance from our athletes again with 2 new club records set and a podium finish.
