Scottish Athletics Indoor League
Match 3, 12th January 2025
Emirates Arena, Glasgow

It was along to the Emirates again in the middle of January for our competing DTFC athletes this time for the final SAIL ( Scottish Athletics Indoor League) match of the season. There was no final on offer for the best placed teams this year however it didn’t deter our athletes from putting in excellent performances.

 

In the Under 13 category Finlay Gibson led the charge with a 5th spot in the 800m (2.44mins) and a PB (Personal best) . He also added a 7th spot and an SB (Seasons best) in the 60m hurdles (13.05secs). The only other boy in this category was Alfie Walsh whose best performance came with 11th spot at a PB of 33.65secs in the 200m. He added SBs in his 60m and shot putt. Alice Thomas was in form for her events with a 5th place in her 200m and a 31.2secs PB whilst adding another PB for her 3rd place in the 60m ( 9.01secs). Kelseigh Wilson notched a 6th place and a 1.20m PB in her high jump with another PB in her shott putt ( 4.78m) and a SB for her 60m hurdles (12.26secs). Millie Gordon and Eve Beveridge completed the U13 team and Eve also added 2 PBs for her 200m (33.73secs) and high jump ( 1.10m) with Millie adding 2 SBs for her hurdles and high jump .

 

The U15 girls were well represented with a strong field. Lottie Thomas won her 60m in 8.37secs while Ana Stobie was 7th and 10th respectively in the 200m (29.15secs) and 60m (8.93secs) , both were PBs. Other best performances were Poppy Warner 3rd in the 800m with a 2.29mins PB while Lily Pritchard ran a 2.46mins SB in the same race. Molly Robinson ran 49.09secs and set a new PB in the 300m,  Evanne Carson ran 48.38secs and a PB in the same race, Rosie Dyson with SBs in both her 800m (2.56mins)  and long jump ( 3.24m), Poppy Buchannan with another PB double this time in the 60m hurdles ( 12.58secs) and long jump (3.56m) and Rachel Petrie was just outside her PB with a solid 200m run of 33.43secs. In the field Caitlin Chalmers finished 2nd in her high jump (1.40m) and 4th in her shot putt ( 6.82m)

 

There were only three starters for the U17s with Riley Gardiner keeping up his good form this season with a 4th spot in his 200m ( 24.51secs) , Luke Hamilton was 4th in his 60m in a PB time ( 7.98secs ) and a 6th place in the 400m with another PB ( 59.42secs). Arabella Michell was the only U17 girl however no PBs but solid runs in the 60m ( 9.32secs) and 200m (30.82secs).

 

The U20 athletes were all females and led by Sophie Thomas with a 1st place in her 60m ( 7.84secs) and a 4th place in the 400m with a PB ( 65.61secs). Darcie Black produced two SBs in the 200m where she was 5th in 27.42secs and 2nd in the shot putt (8.72m).Kirstin Penman was an excellent 2nd in the 60m hurdles in a 9.92secs PB and 4th in her high jump, Amy Jenkinson was 3rd in the same hurdles with a 10.20secs PB and added a 5th place ion the high jump. Sarah Kane was 6th in the shot putt with a 6.63m SB and 8th in her 400m in a 78.83secs PB.

 

This concluded the Indoor League season with the athletes now free to focus their attention on the upcoming national Indoor Championships. They are well prepared so we wish them all the best.
